The merger of two major service businesses has produced a global leader for the sector, with acknowledged potential, exploiting large customer outsourcing strategies and e-commerce growth. Aligning risk management procedures will allow development to a more proactive and business-driven approach worldwide. The task is to shape risk management activity in Europe, including the UK, determining an appropriate strategy, gaining buy-in from all senior operating executives and implementing the required structures and decision and control processes. A broad brief includes safety, security, environmental, third party litigation and transportation risks, and risk financing. Cost of risk in the region exceeds £20m. To meet this challenge you must be able to demonstrate a track record of proven success in transforming and running a pan-European risk management function, ideally in a substantial service business. Experience of active risk management in more than one country is essential, as is fluency in English, with competence in other European languages highly desirable. You will be energetic, enthusiastic and ambitious, of post-graduate intellect, with natural ability in leadership and persuasion and communication skills at all levels.
