Leonardo da Vinci PRORIM video

FERMA is developing a professional European Risk Management Course (called PRORIM) with the collaboration of AMRAE, ANRA, AIRMIC and DVS/Bfv, the University of Verone and the Institute of Risk Management. The course consists in a 7 modules training programme in risk management and will be delivered in the various languages with a one day course with a distance learning process. The course is addressed to senior managers and directors of SME's, new professionals in the insurance industry and managers of large organisations where there is no in-house risk management training. This programme is set up under the Leonardo da Vinci funding programme.

January 2006 - UPDATE

The PRORIM e-learning modules have been completed and are now available for the partners to be tested. The one-day training course has been written and is being evaluated by the IRM. Only the Introduction module remains to be completed and we expect it to be designed soon. The next step is the commercialisation plans, the presentation of the module in Deauville to AMRAE, followed by presentations for DVS and ANRA. Then the Partners' meeting in London on February 8th to set up the translation, the dissemination and localisation into French, Italian and German. The deadline for completion is September 30th. Launch date in Brussels on October 11th.

May 2005 - UPDATE

The third transnational partners meeting, hosted by FERMA, took place in Divonne (near Geneva) on 25th May 2005. Several decisions were taken at the meeting, and follow up actions have occurred. The next meeting will be on in Lisbon. The training day and the contents of the 7 modules have been presented. The partners discussed the implications of the EU’s requirements at some length, and strategies were put in place to aid the successful completion of these. In supporting the course, FERMA is drawing on decades of experience of practising, teaching and researching risk management. It is collaborating with the risk management associations of Germany (DVS), Italy (ANRA), France (AMRAE) and the UK (AIRMIC), together with the Business School of Bordeaux, the University of Verona and the Institute of Risk Management.

March 2005 - UPDATE

The second transnational partners meeting, hosted by FERMA, took place in Brussels on 2nd February 2005. Several decisions were taken at the meeting, and follow up actions have occurred. The next meeting will be on 25th May, in Geneva, after the FERMA meeting in Evian.

- All contracts have been received and approved by the EU's National Agency, Ecotec
- The Project timetable has slipped by approximately one month
- The Newsletter will be issued when information is available rather than monthly
- A new name for the project was discussed as Partners felt that DESIRIMAN was not as clear as they would have wished. It was decided to keep DESIRIMAN for the EU's purposes, but to refer to the project in future as PRORIM. This acronym stands for Professional Risk Management
- A flyer has been produced and sent to partners to be translated into the national language and put on their websites. Confirmation has been received from FERMA, AIRMIC, IRM and Bordeaux that this has been done.
- IRM presented the draft of Module 1. This was discussed in depth. Following further input from the partners, the final form of the Module will be available at the next Transnational Partners' meeting.
- AIRMIC presented the draft of the Training Day. This was also discussed in depth and decisions taken as to the form and content.
- Partners agreed to take responsibility for certain other modules. These are
o Module 2 - Finance Bordeaux
o Module 3 - HR AIRMIC/IRM
o Module 4 - Responsibilities ANRA
o Module 5 - Plant/Equipment AMRAE
o Module 6 - Reputation/BusCont AIRMIC/IRM

An opportunity to learn practical risk management

No matter how small or large, any company needs to understand risk. Owners, directors and managers who have a good practical knowledge of risk management are better able to take advantage of opportunities - and to protect their businesses from events that might otherwise cause them serious damage.

FERMA, the Federation of European Risk Management Associations, is giving its support to an on-line learning course for business people with little or no experience of risk management. The programme will include a one day face-to-face training with practitioners, as well as e-learning modules that allow people to study in their own time and at their own pace. It will focus on delivering practical guidance so that companies can boost their performance and benefit the bottom line.

In supporting the course, FERMA is drawing on decades of experience of practising, teaching and researching risk management. It is collaborating with the risk management associations of Germany (DVS), Italy (ANRA), France (AMRAE) and the UK (AIRMIC ), together with the Business School of Bordeaux, the University of Verona and the Institute of Risk Management.

The project is funded by a European Union grant under the Leonardo da Vinci vocational training programme. Course Development, which will be closely monitored by the EU authorities, is expected to be completed by the last quarter of 2006.

The course will be available initially in English, French, German and Italian. It will then be translated into other European languages, so that businesses throughout the EU can benefit from this unique initiative to promote good risk management.
